Ecological

Europe can be more ecological thanks to:

  • taking care of the natural environment and reducing air pollution in Europe
  • supporting production of energy from renewable sources
  • improving waste water treatment plant and sewerage, enhancing efficiency and capacity as well as improving quality of the surface water
  • supporting purchase eco-friendly means of transport: electric and hybrid buses, trolley buses, trams
  • merging environmentally-friendly and green contemporary construction designs within historical contexts and cultural heritage
  • constructing educational paths preventing disturbance of animals in their natural habitats by the tourists
  • developing zero-carbon motorised water transport
  • promoting the development of eco-constructions
  • reducing emissions from stationary sources of air pollution

Taking care of the natural environment and reducing air pollution in Europe

Modern and ecological low-floor tram.

Photo 1: The cohesion policy helps taking care of the natural environment and reduce air pollution in Europe. It enables us developing low-carbon transport. In the cities, we purchase state-of-the-art low-floor trams with equipment adjusted to the needs of the disabled (Poland). Phot. Agnieszka Pocierznicka

National Museum of Art (MUŻA) not only promotes culture, but also supports sustainability by  generating energy from natural resources (solar panels) (Malta).  Phot. Alex Turnball

Constructing educational paths preventing disturbance of animals in their natural habitats by the tourists

Developing zero-carbon motorised water transport

Ecological boat with advanced energy storage technology.

Photo 7: Our other tasks include development of zero-carbon motorised water transport. To this end we built fully ecological boats with solar energy-powered engine and advanced energy storage technology at their heart. Zero-carbon drive enables access to waters on which motorised boats are prohibited (Poland). Phot. Agnieszka Pocierznicka

Promoting the development of eco-constructions

Photo 8: Thanks to cohesion policy funding we developed self-contained wooden shell, flexible and adaptable on different locations, climate conditions and terrains. Self-sufficient living unit can be used as holiday cabin, hide away or short-time habitation for research, tourism or shelter; its small size allows easy and different transport possibilities (Slovenia). Reducing emissions from stationary sources of air pollution

Photo 9: EU funding leads to reduction of emissions from stationary sources of air pollution (e.g. through installing exhaust and filtration technologies in production). We reduce the environmental burden coming to a large extent from the industrial zone, thus we improve the quality of the environment for the inhabitants of the cities and surrounding villages (Slovakia).
